How to Begin Your Public Relations Campaign

Types of Public Relations Campaigns

There are a number of basic types of public relations campaign. The type of campaign, of course, depends on the purpose or the goal of the campaign.

Here are some of the most common types.

Persuasive Obviously, the purpose of this type of campaign is to influence a target audience or market.

Political - involves a candidate for public office or an issue being promoted by a political interest group.

Commercial - designed to launch a new product or service.

Reputation - focused on improving how an organization is perceived by its public.

Educational or public awareness - advocating a behavioral change by asking public to do something or give up something.

Social action - advocating a social issue or cause

Propaganda These are distasteful but often effective campaigns designed to influence the thinking or actions of a group of people by presenting only one side of an issue. Facts are often presented selectively and in a misleading or even false manner. Propaganda campaigns are most often used to further a political agenda.
